Canine Good Citizen
Class Description:
The Canine Good Citizen, or 'CGC,' class is a very useful class. The American Kennel Club (AKC) has outlined its expectations for dogs who can interact peacefully and responsibly in normal conditions in and out of the home and around friendly strangers and other dogs. This outline is used to test dogs, and upon successful completion of the test, your dog will be given an AKC "Canine Good Citizen" title.

- responsible dog ownership
- how to groom and care for their dogs
- different techniques of effective training
Dogs learn:
- how to greet friendly strangers
- how to accept grooming tools like brushes
- how to walk politely in public
- how to behave when their owner must leave them in someone else's care
- how to react to sudden loud noises
- how to greet other non-aggressive dogs
- how to stay in place and come when called
- how to walk on a loose lead
Prerequisites:
For enrollment in CGC class, you and your dog must show proficiency in the material and behaviors covered in basic dog obedience class.
